Five Scary Movie Parodies

If you are like me, then you have at least seen your share of scary movies. I have enjoyed the likes of Blood Hungry, Gaslight, etc. However, the thing that makes a movie scary is the same thing that can make a movie comedy. The ability to laugh at something scary can be the difference between a great movie and a mediocre one. Let’s take a look at a few of my favorite scary movies, and then some of my favorite comedy movies.

The Shining – This is a classic horror movie that has been loved by many since it was released in 1980. Jack Nicholson shines as a star in this classic, and the rest of the supporting cast does a wonderful job as well. The Shining is truly a terrifying film that every person should see. If you like horror films, then this is definitely one of your favorites. You should see The Shining over again.

It’s a Surefire Follicle Jumping Paralysis – The makers of this spoof horror movie knew just what they were doing when they wrote This is a Surefire Stand-Up Pheromone Paralysis. They took the “tingle” vocal quality that the original “tingle” vocalists gave, and added some actual parodying for good measure. The Stand-Up Pheromones are very funny once you hear them. They’re like the “zingles” that precede an orgasm, but are delivered in a more controlled manner. It’s a great spoof that you should see.

Hostel – The Hostel franchise is probably my favorite among horror movies. I’ve always liked the idea that you could watch the characters in almost any situation and expect to see something terrifying. The Hostel movies are very funny with an element of a psychological twist.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre – I’m not sure if it’s the same as the original, but I remember seeing this at a friend’s house, and thought it was a fantastic take on the Saw franchise. There are plenty of cheap horror movies that feature cannisters being shot in various parts of the film, and that’s what makes the Texas Chainsaw Massacre so unique. The plot is about a group of teenagers who get out of a mental institution instead. Things go bad, and it looks like the cannisters will kill them all. There are plenty of cheap laugh lines throughout the movie that make it a fun watch, regardless of whether or not you like the original version.

The Black Swan – This is definitely a classic that you should look into, especially if you like a really slow and creepy scene. The Black Swan is a great example of how a couple of minutes of screen time can make a completely different film. The scene of the black swan is supposed to be one of the most horrific moments in the movie, but there are plenty of parodies that you can use in order to get the same effect.
